Happy Spring!!

I don't celebrate Easter - though I don't mind getting the candy when it's on sale, lol... so imagine my surprise when I was told that this Sunday is Easter Sunday. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

When I was a child, I did celebrate Easter with my family. I remember the egg decorating and hiding/finding them - I also remember not wanting to eat hard-boiled eggs for months afterward.

I remember the coconut rabbit cakes with paper ears that my mother used to make (and I absolutely detest coconut now).

I remember dressing up for church (though for the life of me, I can't remember one IN church, just dressing up for it)

- and all that lovely family fun. So what has changed?

I'm older now, and have my own traditions for this time of year - not exclusive mind you, there are many that celebrate Ostara and Beltane - which are what I recognize now. The changing of the Seasons, the Spring Equinox, nature's gifts, etc... things that I can see with my own eyes, and experience in myself as well as what's around me.

No, this post isn't to preach or convert. Just to share. Please enjoy your celebration however you feel most comfortable. As long as it makes you happy.

*D*

P.S. Gotta remember to hit Rite-Aid on Monday for all those great candy sales, lol.
P.P.S. And no, that's not the church I went to - but it serves the point. :)
